Water Harvesting & Water Retention

Water Harvesting and Retention is now a fundamental focus of much of rural Australia. Given the issues faced in the last few years with drought, the ability to hold water on farm is critical to both success and protection of the land.

We have both the knowledge and experience in this area and have developed water plans in consultation with property owners to enable them to maximise water availability. Dozers & Excavators go hand in hand with the earthworks to develop on farm agricultural & permaculture needs. Dam construction and desilting, contours and swales. Poly pipe laying for both water retention and drainage, tank site preparation, water systems, hazard reduction clearing and stick raking and critical soil erosion management

Agriculture & Permaculture

We have considerable experience in Agriculture across two continents and countries.

Our agricultural experience includes property all weather access construction and maintenance with roads & tracks. Agricultural earthworks & permaculture such as cropping country drainage and laser levelling, dam construction and desilting, dam enlargement, contours and swales. Swales provide water retention and disbursement across agricultural land to maximise on farm rainfall with minimal erosion.

Poly pipe laying to tanks and water systems. Clearing and stick raking using appropriate measures to reduce soil erosion and to encourage good management of topsoil and creeks. Construction and maintenance of crossings to assist with access all year round.

John McIntyre Excavations

John McIntyre Excavations is a small, versatile and responsive Earthmoving business that is passionate about all things in the Civil and Earthworks arena.
Following on from John's earthmoving background in both Canada and New Zealand, John wanted to run start his own business here in this region so as he could bring his expertise in the excavating, civil and water harvesting areas to everyone who needs it, and to tell those that don't, what the benefits are. We commenced operations in April 1999 and the business has grown and developed from the one excavator at the start, to having several Cat 325 Excavators, Cat D7 Dozer and Cat D5 Dozer. We have found that this is the perfect mix of machinery to meet all the client requests and to deliver value for money

We are based in two locations, one in the Hunter Valley region at Dungog and the other at Quirindi in the Liverpool Plains Shire. As we have our own quad float, transport and availability is not a hindrance to us and we are mobile and flexible to meet our clients’ needs.

We work in the area of General Construction, Civil earthworks, Remediation, Rehabilitation and De-contamination of sites.

We have worked on many civil projects and partnered with various other civil companies, sub contractors, quarries, waste management sites, railways and the rural fire service - most recently on the awful bushfire events in the early Summer of 2019-2020 as well as various private works; these being mainly on rural properties.

John's exposure and proven practice in so many earthwork arenas - excavating, trenching, dam building, desilting, pipe laying, benching & rock hammering, rehabilitation, site construction, laser levelling, contours and swales - and as a result - operating ability is proven on a variety of plant.

Safety is very much Number 1 - Licencing, Insurances and PPPE.

We strongly advocate the best practice and adhere to WHS, environmental protection, risk management, contractor preapprovals checklists & safe work - all day - every day!

As a father and member of the community, John likes to help where he can. We have been fortunate enough to be able to voluntarily assist at local sporting venues with some major earthworks. Giving back to the community is something we are always keen to do.
